Chances are, if you’re browsing this site, you are already familiar with Hank Williams’s work to some degree.  There may be a dozen of his studio recordings that you’ve heard over and over and never grown tired of.  Indeed, over fifty years after his death, Hank remains the quintessential country singer. 

Rare Demos: First to Last provides the unique opportunity to hear some soon-to-be standards of country music—“Your Cheatin’ Heart,” “Jambalaya,” “Honky Tonk Blues”—as they might have sounded as Hank wrote and played them sitting on the edge of his bed.  Equally enticing, a number of these songs were never released in commercial form, allowing us an extended peek at the Hillbilly Shakespeare’s notebook.
