Louvin Brothers: Radio Favorites ’51-’57 (CD)

Price: $9.99 (regularly $16.98)

Detailed Description

The Louvin Brothers, Ira and Charlie, were one of the most influential harmony-singing duos in country music history.  This collection of live recordings shows why.

Taken largely from the Grand Ole Opry Prince Albert Show, on which the Louvins debuted in the Spring of 1955, the songs here harken to an earlier time in country music, even for the mid-1950s.  And yet, somehow, in both the gospel numbers and the secular, one hears the future.

Writes Emmylou Harris: “What is it about two really good voices coming together to make something so wonderful, something greater than the sum of their individual parts?  Perhaps, in this world of discord, it makes us feel that, yes, we can get something right.”
