Before violin master Mark O’Connor racked up six consecutive CMA Awards for Musician of the Year (1991–96), he made a name for himself competing in the National Old Time Fiddler’s Contest in Weiser, Idaho. He first came to Weiser in 1973, when he was all of eleven years old. He made his first solo album when he was twelve, and he won first-place awards at Weiser in 1974. By the time he was a senior in high school, he had won every major fiddle contest in the country. These recordings from 1975–81 and 1984.
