Sunday in the Country is the follow-up to Country’s 20 Classic Gospel Songs of the Century.  Whereas the previous collection consists almost entirely of hymns and classic gospel songs that have been in the sacred canon for decades, no song on Sunday is more than twenty years old.  One might call this the “life application” edition.  You won’t find “Drugs or Jesus,” for example, in your church hymnal.  Likewise “I Found Jesus on the Jailhouse Floor.”  

Not unlike the way contemporary worship music has brought pop elements to the modern Sunday service, the gospel songs often heard by today’s country artists put a twist on the style without twisting the message.  Sunday in the Country presents twelve of country’s biggest stars and the greatest story ever re-told.
